TASC\u2019s Physical Kick-Off of <\/strong>A European joint training programme (20 ECTS) on Sustainable Communication Launches in Murcia in Spain<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After months of collaborative development and feedback cycles from the TASC Teacher Board and the Community of Practice, the first grade of the joint training programme on sustainable communication\u2014Grade A (Initial Grade)<\/strong>\u2014is set to officially launch with a physical kick-off with 42 teachers in Murcia, Spain<\/strong>, from May 20th to May 24th, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event marks the start of the first physical international training experience<\/strong> for in-service and pre-service teachers within the programme. Grade A is a 6 ECTS EU micro-credential, designed to build foundational competences in sustainable communication for both pre-service and in-service teachers<\/strong>. It introduces initial components of the programme\u2019s five core modules: Human Rights and Values, EU Values and Identity, Non-Discrimination and Equity, Understanding Ourselves and Others, and Dialogue. <\/strong> It also integrates essential digital competences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Programme Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the entire Grade A covers 6 ECTS, the physical training week in Murcia<\/strong> focuses on a 2 ECTS portion of the course, the face-to-face learning path. Six teachers from each of the seven TASC partner countries will come together in 3 transnational<\/strong> communities, fostering non-violent, intercultural and restorative communication and collaborative learning with awareness and reflection in the centre of the communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the Murcia training, the programme continues through a blended learning path of one week from 28th<\/sup> of May till 4th<\/sup> of <\/strong>June 2025<\/strong>, combining a national physical meeting day and European meeting day with the communities online next to individual online activities. The final phase of grade A consists of a virtual learning path in <\/strong>September 2025<\/strong>, allowing the trainees to deepen their learning independently at their school community and at home. Next to this they meet online in small EU groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Testing Impact and sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TASC consortium will assess the impact of the training  of sustainable communication and mobility<\/strong> on participants. TASC aims next to this a long-term goal of shaping a green, inclusive and sustainable European teacher education framework<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The physical kick-off in Murcia not only launches the programme but also represents a key milestone in the broader mission of TASC: to empower teachers as cornerstones of the society with the competences they need to foster dialogue, equity, and belonging in increasingly complex classrooms in schools across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Development of the first part of the joint training programme – Grade A initial level in sustainable communication (January \u2013 September 2024)<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the last few months, the European consortium of TASC (Teacher Academy Sustainable Communication) developed the first grade of 3 of the joint training programme on sustainable communication. Grade A consists of a Teacher Training Manual for teacher trainers and a Teacher Toolkit for teachers. The Teacher Toolkit will be tested by teachers via a community of practice for each of the TASC-countries. In September, the communities kicked off with a national meeting. Afterwards, they will be testing the tools from the teacher toolkit for three months before providing their critical feedback.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Objectives of TASC<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main objective of TASC is to create agile, reflective European teachers capable of counteracting violence, discrimination, exclusion, and bullying through a comprehensive skill-building approach that focuses on sustainable communication. The programme emphasizes values such as nonviolent intercultural communication, empathy, and understanding, enabling teachers to integrate EU identity and values into their classrooms. This aligns with five constructs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teacher Toolkit (TTK)<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A cornerstone of the training programme is the Teacher Toolkit (TTK)<\/em>, designed to support teachers’ continuous development and professionalization. This toolkit includes 15 tools which form a supportive set of resources, exercises and activities for learning, training and applying relevant competences on sustainable communication in professional practices. These tools are aimed at enhancing self-awareness, communication, and intercultural competences. They categorize into five modules with integrated digital competences: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each module offers tools for fostering critical thinking and sustainable communication strategies, equipping teachers with both theoretical knowledge and practical exercises to address these complex topics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Examples of tools are \u2018collaborative problem solving\u2019, \u2018(in)equality in schools\u2019, \u2018emotion mapping and self-portrait’, \u2018me and my boxfish\u2019 and \u2018The non-discrimination path and social biases\u2019.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Testing Phase<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upcoming testing period for the toolkit will now run from September to December 2024, during which teachers will engage with these tools in real-life educational environments. Teachers of the community of practice are all critical friends. Feedback from this phase will be essential for finalizing the toolkit. CoP (Community of Practice) members will test at least 10 tools, providing detailed feedback for improvement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through TASC, teachers will not only enhance their professional skills but also contribute to societal change by embedding sustainable communication principles in schools. The programme underlines the importance of collaboration, empathy and intercultural understanding, aiming for a broader transformation within the educational sector across Europe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Teacher Academy Sustainable Communication<\/em> (TASC) is advancing its mission of fostering social change through education by equipping teachers with vital communication skills. During the European Virtual Meeting on September 18th<\/sup> the focus was on testing and receiving feedback on activities from TASC’s Teacher Training Manual (TTM). The manual supports both pre-service and in-service teachers in developing competences across five key modules: Human Rights and Values, EU Values and Identity, Non-Discrimination and Equity, Understanding Ourselves and Others, and Dialogue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting facilitated discussions around specific activities from the TTM\u2019s grade A materials.
