Almadaforma – Marta Espírito Santo

Marta Espírito Santo teaches Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the second cycle of basic education at the Professor Ruy Luís Gomes School Group in Almada, and Environmental Education and Didactics of Environmental Studies at ISCE – Instituto Superior de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo, in Odivelas. She also trains teachers in Science Teaching and Educational Technologies at the Almadaforma Training Center.
For about 10 years, she has been involved, nationally and internationally, in the development of educational activities related to the polar regions and the science that is developed there. She is a member of the executive committee of PEI – Polar Educators International – and the Portuguese coordination – PEI Portugal – and is one of those responsible for coordinating the POLAR WEEKS activity, a biannual event that connects scientists, teachers, and students.
She is also an author of children’s stories, with the published book “Írs’ travels – Antarctica, here I come!”.
She has experience in implementing projects in schools (Ciência Viva na Escola Club and ERASMUS+, to name a few examples) and is currently developing the ERASMUS+ NBS4School project: Empowering students to act for climate through Nature Based Solutions and STEAM+E: Environmental applications on STEAM Education.
