Dr. IOANA DÂRJAN is Associate Professor at the Educational Sciences Department, Faculty of Sociology and Psychology, from the West University of Timisoara, Romania.  

As BA in Psychology and Pedagogy, MEd in Special Education, and Ph.D. in Psychology, she teaches pre-service and in-service teachers for preschool, primary and secondary levels in mainstream and special education, in initial and continuous specialization programs. She is the coordinator of the Special Education specialization of the Department of Education Sciences, co-founder of the University Clinic for Therapies and Psycho-pedagogic Counseling, the director of two postgraduate training programs and continuous professional development at WUT: Positive education and disciplinary strategies and Resilience and assertiveness in the educational environment, and the Director of Specific Therapies of Language and Communication. 

In over 20 years of academic career, Dr. Darjan, as a certified principal psychologist in Special Education, cognitive-behavioral therapist, and Senior LSCI (Life Space Crisis Intervention) trainer, conducted various studies on risk factors and trauma impact on children and youth development, the relations between emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) and juvenile delinquencies, the importance of trauma-informed schools and therapeutic communities on the educational and therapeutic approaches of youth at risk. She developed and implemented courses for teachers, parents, and youth and published papers on these topics.
